There is Hope

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 04:28:49 PM PDT

I have given up on traditional media,  whom i feel play major role in the predicament this nation is currently in. They do not feel accountable to nobody, not even the citizenry. They pledge allegiance not to the American Flag but to the Almighty dollar.

THAT said, I have made it my goal to educate, register voters and have conversations with folks not just on Obama but legislative policies. I don't try to sway anybody, just have a conversation that leads to self discovery of the fundamental failure of the executive and legislative branch  for the last 8 yrs or more.

The reason I write is just to say keep talking to anybody that will listen, keep e-mailing informative clips, keep sending youtube videos to folks, keep sending books to people and keep challenging folks. I had a breakthrough that just amazed me.

NAACP responds to McCain's continued attack on Arugula

Today's war of words in the presidential campaign has again harmed an innocent bystander, the delicious vegetable arugula.

Why Do We Assume The Abortion Issue Will Bring Hillary Voters Onboard?

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 04:04:08 PM PDT

One of the weirdest but most universally accepted myths this summer is the argument that fear of seeing Roe vs. Wade overturned will bring Hillary Clinton's primary voters into the Obama fray come November.  How can we make such a blanket assessment?  And isn't it rather sexist to boot?  Hillary Clinton's supporters are by no means exclusively female and their politics do not begin and end with abortion rights.  In fact, the demographics of the states and regions where Hillary was victorious suggest that the abortion issue will produce incredibly little political dividend for Obama.

Mc7Cribs gets McNasty after another Barackattack -- Game On!

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 04:02:14 PM PDT

Good to see another Barackattack on the stump today, he’s letting McNasty know that his number‘s up, well at least the number of houses he owns, from 4 to 7...

Though I feel BO could’ve gone after him even harder, the McCain camp's response is just a treat.

Average Americans are suffering even if Johnny Mc7Cribs isn’t. Most of us have one house, and many of us are struggling to keep hold of that one house, but enough of us have lost that struggle to expect a presidential candidate, even one as rich as McCain, to be sensitive to the suffering of his fellow Americans, anything less is just disrespectful. Then again, lack of respect seems to be becoming a theme of his campaign.

This latest stumble coming after McCain’s own economical adviser; Phil Gram had the f*ing gall to scoff at us, calling us ‘a nation of whiners‘. Gram's shameful coments made as millions of Americans suffer under abject circumstances he helped cause.

Of course Mc7Cribs distanced himself from those remarks for a couple of days, but I really believe he has a problem acknowledging that times are hard, and there's a great opportunity here.

We're overreacting to Housegate, but that's ok

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 04:01:51 PM PDT

I turn 41 in less than a month. Some might say it's high time I go hunting for a 25-year-old babe-alicious heiress, existing marriage be damned. But screw it, who's got time to go be-bopping across the country just to chat up a ding-a-ling with a masters in pouting who, in all likelihood, is an astonishingly lousy lay?

But let's just say I have no character, no morals, no soul, and I somehow I hit the bimbo jackpot. Five years from now, I am not going to know how many houses I have. "We're going to the Bahamas tomorrow. Suh-weet! We have a house there? No? It's your cousin's? It's Jack Abramoff's? Whatever. I ain't bringing no sheets and towels, haven't had to do that shit in years, so what do I care?

VIDEO: The keys to exposing McCain's elitism

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:59:57 PM PDT

There has been a lot of talk about out-of-touch elitist John Sidney McCain pointing the finger at Barack Obama's elitism, when indeed, the one who dons $520 Ferragamos and owns many-a-home isn't Obama at all. Who is it? Why, it's J Sid!  If only he could rememberhow many homes he's invested in.

But that's not important now. What is important is that somebody has come up with a way to point out his elitism without uttering a word. And at J Sid's very own convention.

Imagine that!

Then, imagine this:

Stop Lying to Yourselves! Obama is in Trouble!

McCain-Keating 5 cost tax payers $160 billion. Rezko cost $0.

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:53:31 PM PDT

The Keating 5 Scandal is ready to come back into view and the Obama camp NEEDS to take advantage of the new Rezko add that the McCain camp has sent out.

The McCain camp has clearly shown the campaign they're going to run: the 527s are coming out of the woodwork and when they're not attacking they're attacking while defending. EVERYTHING is on the table and they've declared war on Sen. Obama.

This IMO is an important moment. The Rezko ad needs a rapid response too and the response writes itself: Barack Obama did NOTHING wrong and has been exonerated. John McCain's poor judgement cost US taxpayers 124 billion. The McCain camp will hit on culture issues, the Obama camp must answer and hit back at the same time. NEVER be only defensive. Stay on offense like the McCain camp did w/their response. That is so important. Calling them out isn't enough, you have to hit them with something else too. Like how they brought up rezko. McCain has a lot of ish in Arizona to bring out too.

I Am Soooo Hoping for a Full Out Fight

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:53:28 PM PDT

Please Obama campaign, accept that this is a completely ugly fight and get the attack ads out on McCain from everything in his past.

If the cross-in-the-sand story is suspect - raise issues.

WE HAVE TO MAKE IT STOP

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:51:41 PM PDT

Make it stop.  I really don't know if it is me or has the news no longer become the news?  I am finding that John McCain and his extended group of supporters are blatantly lying.  What astonishes me is that as the days go by the lying gets bolder and bolder.  Then it gets worse, the traditional media repeats and repeats the lie - no challenging of it, just repeating for what reason I just don't know.  It was very bad what the swiftboats did to Kerry - but it was sneaky and poor Bush had no control over them.  And the swiftboats had very little money BUT not to worry the traditional media picked up the tab.  But John McCain is proudly putting his name to the lies, be it taxes, energy, the military action in Iraq or the price of cheese in Pennsylvania...

Factcheck.org gets hands on actual Obama Birth Certificate

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:38:14 PM PDT

Due to all of the cries from the wingnuts that Barack Obama's birth certificate was a forgery, Factcheck.org has sent it's investigators to Chicago to actually, physically view Obama's birth certificate.

What they had to say, below the fold.

CT-04: Shays Ad Misleading - Claims He's Like Obama

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:37:08 PM PDT

Rep. Christopher Shays (CT-04), the only incumbent Republican House member from New England, must have some polling numbers showing a combination of a very tight race against OrangetoBlue Democrat Jim Himes and some rather overwhelming numbers for Barack Obama in the district.

Why else would he, so early in the campaign, put up this misleading and disingenuous TV ad which opens with a picture of Barack Obama and a voice-over saying "The hopefulness of Obama...."  The ad began running yesterday on local feeds of national cable including MSNBC.

Obama's follow-up statement

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:29:51 PM PDT

Now that Obama has finally hit McCain hard on an issue we've been talking about for weeks, he needs to respond to McCain's response with the following.

"Michelle and I both have modest upbringings, but in recent years we've done quite well because of my books. We were finally able to pay off those student loans and own a nice house. Now, according to John McCain I'm not rich because I didn't make $5 million last year....but, Ill tell you right now that the reason I propose rolling back the Bush-McCain tax cuts on people over $250,000 is because we have enough money to survive in this economy. We can afford to carry a little more of the tax burden so that hard working Americans can feed their kids and keep up with their mortgage payments. John McCain owns seven houses and had tens of millions of dollars, but wants a tax cut.  I think the tax cut belongs to YOU."

Drop it like it's hot(headed)

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:25:53 PM PDT

Yesterday, Talking Points Memo posted an item about the Obama campaign's new strategy of portraying McCain as a reckless hothead.

Today, McCain gave Obama the gift of the summer by forgetting how many houses he has. The Obama campaign, quite reasonably, has pounced: as Kagro X reported, they are throwing together events in 16 different states in order to call attention to McCain's own personal "housing crisis."

So... if the Obama campaign is pushing the "out of touch plutocrat" line of attack, does that mean they need to drop the hothead strategy?  Are the messages and images of the two lines of attack working at cross-purposes? Do they cancel each other out?

See below the jump for the answer! (hint: "No")

Your age when you became a multiple homeowner.

Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:10:31 PM PDT

Barack Obama is 47 years old and has one home. As we learned today, John McCain, soon to be 73, owns at least 7 homes. I myself am 40 and have one home that is 18 years away from being paid off.
