The Day the Earth Stood Still
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 04:42:41 PM PDT
The fix is in, the die has been cast, the Democratic Vice Presidential Candidate has been chosen.
Many have wondered, many have guessed, many have spoken with authority. But all were wrong.

Where are they?

FWD:FWD:FWD:FWD: People need to be more educated
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 04:25:19 PM PDT
Received an email from my sister a few hours ago.
It was a forwarded email, through several other forwards, as a blistering attack on the writings of Barack Obama.
Problem is, he never wrote the stuff they said he did.
Where is the "Warmonger" Ad?!?!?
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:48:48 PM PDT
This isn't much of a diary, but I'm puzzled as to why the "Warmonger" meme hasn't yet appeared in an attack ad against McCain.
With all the recent handwringing over Obama's falling poll numbers, I still have confidence that we will prevail in November. I have to admit, though, that I am relieved by the "Seven" ad and the ad linking McCain to Abramhof. It demonstrates Obama's willingness to hit back hard with the truth.
Just got the text
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 03:42:08 PM PDT
Sorry for the short diary, but I just got the text - it's Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius.
The text states:
"Barack Obama has chosen Kathleen Sebelius (D-Kansas) to be his vice presidential running mate. Please forward."
Haven't seen it anywhere on the MSM or blogosphere.
Let the posting, complaining, and praising begin.
"the one" is mccain attacking america
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 02:44:44 PM PDT
What should we do about those "the one" attack ads? Well... say what they really are: an attack on AMERICA!
Mccain has no respect for america, or americans. its insulting to think people would even fall for those silly ads, when there is so much more important stuff to talk about. of course mccain can't talk about that stuff because when anybody looks at what's going on in this country, mccain loses.
here is an excerpt from a conversation i was having with a friend on IM.
Obama finally learns how to invade McCain's OODA Loop!
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 02:13:31 PM PDT
The OODA Loop is a concept created by an Air Force fighter pilot, Col John C Boyd, to confound the enemy by controlling his action/reaction cycle and win aerial dogfights. It has many many applications outside of combat from business to politics.
McCain's Life=More Important than 47 million Americans
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 02:04:42 PM PDT
I'm an Americorps VISTA. I am dedicating one year of my post-college life to fight poverty in the inner city at poverty-level wages. And apparently, the life of John McCain, or any other US senator, is more important than mine, or the lives of 47 million Americans without health insurance. I can now count myself among them.
McCain to unveil new Attack Ad Re: Rezko
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 02:00:07 PM PDT
According to Marc Ambinder McCain is planning to unveil a new ad this evening. a McCain official said Obama "opened to door to this" with his "Seven" ad and that
the difference between Obama's mocking McCain for his wealth and his shaky answer on the number of homes he owns was that McCain's charge "reflects an existential reality," where Obama's charges "attack Cindy. She owns the homes. I thought he said the wives were off-limits."
I'm guessing John stays in a Motel 6 somewhere in downtown Phoenix most of the time.
Republicans never fail to stretch the bounds of my patience and sanity.

Breaking News: Third Party Smear Alert!
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 01:51:32 PM PDT
To date I've been a total Casandra on this website. I've spent a lot of time kvetching about Obama's eroding polls. My main goal is to try to alert people about potential bad news. Like the Stock Market, I've predicted 11 of the lat 6 Obama crises. I don't intent to stop now!
Cindy McCain: Only Way to get Around Arizona is by Private Plane
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 01:29:40 PM PDT
And lest we forget, the only way to get around Arizona is by small private plane! Well, according to Cindy McCain anyhow. Yes, I know this has been widely diaried, and exhausted on other blogs, but I rather think it fits right in with not only the McCain's camp's out-of-touch-ness, but also the republican Party's with their totally out of touch policies (unless you are a multi-billion dollar multi-national conglomerate!
It should absolutely be part and parcel of the new attack strategy, although I know in keeping with Obama's tack of integrity and keeping spouses out of the attack line, I know it will not be. sigh one can but hope!

Polling: Obama Not Really Slipping Where It Counts
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 01:29:12 PM PDT
We're all a little bit edgy since McCain started climbing in the polls and bloggers here and elsewhere have been fishing around for an explanation--things like, "Obama's too wimpy," or, "He shouldn't have gone bodysurfing," or "He threw his base under the bus." I have a completely different explanation: McCain's climb in the polls was inevitable and would have happened no matter what Obama did. If you like this faintly mavericky challenge to Left Blogistan's conventional wisdom, read on.
Green Monopoly Houses
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 12:28:06 PM PDT
(So I'm not going to take credit for this idea - I actually lifted it from an OpenLeft comment - but I think it's good enough to make into its own diary and maybe get to the eyes of someone who can make this happen.)
Remember those Purple Heart band-aids back in the 2004 GOP convention? Weren't they just the most annoying thing ever?
But the thing was: people remembered them. It was an image that stuck in people's minds during the whole Swift Boat crap and make things that much worse.
Well, now it looks like we have a candidate in some similar trouble over a pretty big gaffe he made today, so maybe it's time to return the favor.
Obama should be in New Orleans on Aug 29
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 12:15:02 PM PDT
This is my first diary so bear with me. We need to find a way to steal McCain's thunder on that day without making too much noise.
Let trust become the mantra
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 11:35:04 AM PDT
I've seen plenty of worried Obama supporters over the past couple of weeks and I admit, I've found myself slip into a deep, dark hole of panic. Then, I see a diary or article that throws me a rope, which leads me back to hope. Well, this is one of those days.
Amid VP speculation, Obama's message is getting lost.
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 11:31:05 AM PDT
It seems like all we're hearing in the news lately is "Who will it be?" Last week, everyone was saying Bayh, this week it's Biden. And with those speculations are examinations of the candidates' weaknesses (mostly) and strengths (barely).
Since it seems to be all anyone is talking about when talking about Obama (outside of certain blogs, of course), is it any wonder that nobody seems to be paying attention to his message or his issues?
No wonder the most recent polling is showing a tighter race. When they hear about Obama, it's all VP speculation, and when they hear about McCain, it's all about him slamming Obama.
I'm sure the telecoms are loving it; I wonder how much they'll make on text messaging charges when the announcement is finally made.
I'm not going to urge Obama to make an announcement before the most optimum time (maybe after the Olympics end on Saturday); as soon as the speculation is out of the way, the news will, hopefully, be back on-message. And with that, his polling numbers will rise again.
Campaign stops after Saturday, before convention.
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 11:29:56 AM PDT
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that Obama will be making a campaign stop in Eau Claire, Wisconsin on Sunday. Also, mentioned the following stops,
This Ain't a Congeniality Contest
Thu Aug 21, 2008 at 11:22:42 AM PDT
There are no prizes for second place. Holding John McCain accountable for his statements and his disconnect from 99% of most Americans is not being negative, it reveals the real John McCain - the McCain that the media continues to give a pass.
