Obama's speech at the car dealership
Thu Jul 24, 2008 at 01:40:02 PM PDT
I almost missed Obama's speech in Berlin. Much to my dismay, my car dealer called to say my car was ready for pickup just before Obama's speech was televised.
But luckily, I was able to catch Obama in the dealership's waiting room, where they had a great flat-screen TV.
There were others in that waiting room who yelled at me to change the channel---I'm a small and normally calm woman, but I stood up, clenched my fists and said: "Anyone who wants to change the channel is going to do it over my dead body" (or words somewhat to that effect.)
Pat Buchanan's blog today

Its getting very ugly out here, kind of reminds me of the title of Jack Cafferty's book. I just found this on the internet, so this is not a Diary sorry, but had to post it.
It is time for Pat Buchanan to leave MSNBC, this is incredibly horrible and I can't believe they let them post this.

Obama's Speech (old news, I know) and a personal note
Fri Mar 21, 2008 at 11:27:25 PM PDT
I cross posted most of this (with minor revisions) from my blog. I left off the original opening because I figure most people have watched the Obama's "We the people" speech by now, and probably know that Juan Cole has a full transcript up at his blog. Awesome speech, I know, and the one deciding factor behind my decision to back Obama fully in the upcoming Presidential election, instead of, say, Ralph Nader or Cynthia McKinney (I know, I know). So, he's not perfect by any means, but I think he's got it. Go Obama!
Mom, Grandmother, and race.

A story my mom told me about her childhood, about her mother, my Grandmother, that relates to racial problems. Both are gone, now, but still well loved, but what mom had to say was very powerful.
